Imperatives

 Definition

A sentence that gives advice or instructions or that expresses a request or command. (Compare with sentences that make a statement, ask a question, or express an exclamation.)

Example

"Forget them, Wendy. Forget them all. Come with me where you'll never, never have to worry about grown up things again."

"Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut."

"Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."

"Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face!"

"Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia!"

"Leave the gun. [pause] Take the cannolis."
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."
